Chamomile tea

admin No Comments

Amazing how something so simple can bring back so many emotions and memories.

My mom used to make me a cup of chamomile tea in the evening when I had a sore stomach or just felt sluggish.

Just the smell of it wraps me in comfort as if she were right here giving me a hug and I find myself making it more and more just to feel that sensation.

Cheers mom!

I got a water filter about 2 years ago now .

I used to have such a hard time drinking water; it just tasted bad to me . I could smell the chemicals in it;  especially the chlorine… and so drinking water was difficult.

And then I ended up with a kidney stone 🙁

For those of you who have had one, you know how horrible it is. For those of you haven’t, I hope you never get one!

The best way to avoid getting a stone obviously is to drink water. I knew I never wanted another stone again … and I know the importance of drinking water … WATER IS LIFE!

So I set off on a quest to find a water filter that would make my water taste good and hence I would want to drink it … and I found it …

the berkey water system is amazing!

Also as a bonus we had a water boil advisory just recently … and I found out it was due to e-coli … I discovered that  my berkey filters e-coli 99.9999 % so I wasn’t freaking out too much when I learned about the boil advisory a day into it.

here is a link to go check out the berkey water system 🙂

go drink a glass of water and have a great day 🙂

I am affiliated with them … as I truly love this water filter!

conference chat ~ living organically

admin No Comments

If I were asked to give a conference chat; my topic would be living organically.
How does this tie into homeschooling  you may ask ,
well I like that my kids are learning to eat healthy foods and take care of themselves and the environment.
I think the number one thing we can show our children is how to live as naturally, simply and organically as possible!
By that, I mean everything from cleaning products to the food we eat … from the clothes we wear to the products we use on our bodies and even the chemicals in and outside our homes.
Every purchase we make has an impact … and every dollar we spend leaves a message.
What kind of  message do you want to leave?
What kind of message do you want your kids to take on from your actions?
I want to support our local organic farmers.
I want to support natural healthy sustainable products.
I want people growing and making these items to be healthy and not have to worry about their own health just to make some money and I want them to be fairly compensated for their work 🙂
I want natural clothing that doesn’t contain toxic chemicals.
I love that…
  • my kids can tell you all about GMOs and organic food.
  • that they know how to read the labels.
  • that my kids are learning about protecting the environment and that if they spill something they reach for vinegar to pick up the mess.
  • that my kids tell me about stuff that isn’t healthy and what is healthy.
  • that they know what the fair trade label means.
  • we sell or recycle stuff we don’t use or need; to live as simply as we can.
So thanks for joining me on this virtual conference….
I hope I have inspired you to question everything  and show your kids to do the same to live as naturally as you can 🙂

Did you know you that Palm oil is found in over 50% of processed foods (candles and grooming products as well) and  this is destroying the rainforest where many animals live and affecting the local people that live there as well?

Here is great information about palm oil and what you could do to stop this at rainforest rescue

Remember “Every dollar you spend … or don’t spend… is a vote you cast for the world you want.” so let’s send a strong message!

The power is In Your Palm!

How awesome is that ???

Next time you are shopping see if you see one of their logos 🙂

They also have a neat kids section here … which I plan to cover with the kids as part of a homeschool project in the coming weeks.
